Biography:
Bane is a DC Comics supervillain, best known as a formidable enemy of Batman. He first appeared in Batman: Vengeance of Bane #1 (January 1993).
Born in the Peña Duro prison on Santa Prisca, Bane spent his childhood incarcerated, forced to survive in brutal conditions. He developed both incredible physical strength and a brilliant tactical mind.
Bane is most famous for being the only villain to have "broken the bat," both physically and mentally defeating Batman in Gotham City. He achieves this by cutting off Batman's Venom supply, pushing Batman to the limit and breaking his back.
Bane is addicted to the super-steroid Venom, which grants him immense strength and power, but at a great cost to his health and sanity. Without Venom, his strength decreases and he becomes increasingly dependent on the drug.
